Global Optimisation

Unique Technical Features of IPM suite

  1. GAP has a non-linear NLP Optimiser -Non-Linear Programming - (since 1998)

    • Non-linearity is the nature of artificially lifted well in a surface gathering network.

    • Only a non-linear optimisation such as NLP can capture the non-linear interactions effects. A simplex or linear optimiser will not give the correct -optimum result.
  2. Ability to handle Production as well as the Injection (Water or Gas) networks at the same time. Linking the two systems is required to accurately account for the effect of injection. Moreover GAP will optimise the volumes to be injected.

  3. GAP shows any bottlenecks in the system. This allows the use to see potential for improving reserves by intervening at the right place in the field.

  4. In house developed pressure drop correlations applicable to any flow condition. Correlation with special ability to handle heavy oils.

  5. Advanced mechanistic model for pressure drops in pipelines.

  6. Unique Black Oil model for Gas Condensates. There is no need for use of EOS, so the calculations can be done for a wide range of conditions and much faster than with the EOS. Comparisons and validation can be made very easily between the two methods.

  7. Full integration and optimisation of Reservoir, Well and Surface Facilities. Optimised Production profiles can be generated using Simulators, Material Balance or Decline Curves for the reservoir models, or even combinations of these in the same model.

  8. Through "Compositional Tracking" the total composition of the fluids produced can be tracked through the entire production network. It can then be passed on to a Process Simulator. Connection via RESOLVE or OpenServer

  9. RESOLVE permits the IPM suite to connect to multi reservoir simulation models, as well a process simulators and economics package.  You now now manage and optimise multi reservoir, and multiple field under one advanced engineering model.
