Each year, we formalise our engineering development plan in direct collaboration with our user companies. This plan is heavily influenced by our user community during the annual User Group Meeting, typically held in June.
Our Approach
Our primary objective is to agree on the advancement of each product in our suite. While our user community plays an important role in shaping future developments through feedback and enhancement requests, Petex also invests heavily in proprietary research and development. This internally funded innovation benefits the entire user community, delivering industry-leading petroleum engineering models and solutions without requiring individual client funding.
Our software engineers are unique in that they come from a wide range of scientific disciplines, bringing diverse perspectives and analytical approaches to our products. Rather than relying solely on prior industry experience, we invest extensively in developing our people through a comprehensive in-house training programme, close collaboration with domain experts, and continuous learning opportunities. This enables our engineers to gain a deep understanding of the underlying science, mathematics, and engineering principles behind our software, ensuring they are equipped to develop innovative, technically rigorous solutions while continually expanding their expertise throughout their careers.

We prioritise computational structure over user interfaces. By first defining calculation flows and testing logic via basic prototype data files, we ensure a solid foundation before designing the interface. This method improves product reliability and reduces development time threefold.
