A large unconventional asset operating hundreds of ESP wells faced a familiar digital challenge: engineers were spending significant amounts of time gathering data, updating models and validating performance before optimisation work could even begin.
The problem wasn't a lack of information. In fact, there was too much of it. Production data, well tests, operating parameters and equipment information existed in multiple locations, making it difficult to maintain a consistent view of field performance.
The operator needed a way to automate routine modelling tasks, keep models continuously updated and allow engineers to focus on identifying opportunities rather than maintaining spreadsheets and databases.
PETEX's Digital Oil Field platform provided the foundation for this workflow. By integrating modelling and surveillance processes using PROSPER, GAP and DOF, engineers were able to automate large parts of the modelling process while maintaining engineering rigour.
The resulting system automatically matched more than 100 ESP wells every month and provided a scalable framework for ongoing optimisation. What had previously been a labour-intensive modelling exercise became an operational workflow capable of supporting decisions across the entire asset.
