About this Vacancy

PE Limited is looking for a skilled and driven IT professional to join our team in Guildford. This role requires a solid grasp of core IT infrastructure technologies, including servers, networking, storage, and cloud-based services.

 

As a key member of our IT team, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving our systems to ensure they are secure, efficient, and aligned with business requirements. Your proactive approach and problem-solving mindset will be essential in delivering support across all levels of the organisation, while also contributing to the continuous enhancement of our IT environment.

 

Some travel will be required, candidate must hold a valid UK Driving License.

 

Responsibilities:

  • End-User Support – Provide hands-on assistance by responding to incidents and service requests promptly and professionally, including setup and deployment of hardware, software, and accounts.
  • Systems & Infrastructure Maintenance – Monitor, maintain, and support servers, networks, storage, and cloud/hybrid environments to ensure stability, security, and business continuity.
  • Security & Compliance – Implement IT security best practices, including patching, vulnerability management, access control, and endpoint protection.
  • Projects & Improvements – Contribute to upgrades, migrations, and improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance IT processes and the user experience.
  • Documentation & Development – Maintain accurate documentation of systems and processes, while actively developing technical expertise through ongoing learning and mentorship.

Qualifications

  •         CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ or equivalent.
  •         MS certifications (MCP, MCSA, MS-900, AZ-900, etc.)
  •         ITIL Foundation or similar Service Framework certification.

Skills

Required Skills / Experience

  • Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems (desktop & server).
  • Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and user account management.
  • Hardware installation, configuration, and troubleshooting (servers, desktops, laptops, printers).
  • Understanding of virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, or similar).
  • Familiarity with networking concepts (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs, routing & switching).
  • Knowledge of storage solutions, backup, and disaster recovery tools.
  • Familiarity with IT service frameworks (e.g., ITIL) and meeting response and resolution targets for incidents and requests.
  • Hands-on experience administering and supporting Microsoft 365 platforms (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive) through their respective admin centres.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity best practices and principles (antivirus, patching, endpoint security).
  • Experience working on IT projects (e.g. system upgrades, migrations, rollouts).
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage positively across different teams and stakeholders.

Other useful, but not essential, experience

  • Microsoft Exchange (on-prem)
  • Hands-on experience migrating on-premise systems into hybrid cloud environments.
  • Cisco Meraki Switches & Access Points
  • Sophos XG firewalls or equivalent
  • Sophos Central – Endpoint & encryption or equivalent
  • RHEL or other Linux versions
  • Experience with SolarWinds monitoring and management tools.
