Petex have been working with a local school, Leith Academy, running a 7-week interactive STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) project for first year students.
The project was centred ona number of practical experiments encouraging the students to investigate the science behind the behaviours they observed. Throughout the project students covered several new scientific topics which are not typically covered in the school curriculum such as geology, reservoir characterisation and an introduction to Darcy’s Law.
We very much enjoyed seeing the enthusiasm and engagement of the students grow throughout the project and we look forward to continuing with this venture with another group of students in the next school term.
