About this Vacancy
PE Limited (Petex) is seeking a motivated IT professional to join our Guildford office. As an integral member of the IT team, you will work closely with colleagues to deliver essential IT services and ensure the smooth and reliable operation of our business support and infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of core IT activities, particularly hands-on end-user support. They should demonstrate a strong willingness to learn new technologies and continuously develop their skills. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, proactive, and able to positively engage with end users while working both independently and as part of a team.
Some travel will be required, candidate must hold a valid UK Driving Licence.
Responsibilities:
- Provide hands-on end-user 1st and 2nd line support, responding to incidents and service requests in a timely, professional, and friendly manner.
- Troubleshoot and resolve common IT issues such as AD logins, password resets, MFA reactivations, software installations, and basic hardware malfunctions.
- Escalate complex issues to senior IT members or third-party providers when required.
- Setup/configure/deploy new hardware and software for users.
- Perform regular IT operations and maintenance tasks to ensure system stability and security.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance IT processes and the end-user experience.
- Maintain and update departmental documentation to ensure accuracy and relevance.
- Provide support in managing IT hardware assets and producing regular inventory reports.
- Take an active role in developing your technical expertise through mentorship and guidance.
Skills
Required Skills / Experience
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with staff at all levels of the business.
- Windows 10 / 11 administration & support.
- Managed and supported hardware lifecycle activities such as laptop provisioning, deployment, and maintenance.
- Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining desktops, laptops, printers, and other IT equipment.
- Basic knowledge of networking concepts, including patching, connectivity checks and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with IT service frameworks (e.g., ITIL) and meeting response and resolution targets for incidents and requests.
- Exposure to Active Directory\DNS\DHCP or similar user account and access management systems.
- Understanding of cybersecurity best practices and principles to support a secure IT environment.
- Experience in a technical support role, including exposure to some project-based work and hands-on involvement in IT initiatives
